The Rochester Post Bulletin declares that “The show-stealer is Nili Riemer,” lauding her as “perfect as Oscar,...Riemer was an unforgettable Olympia in "Hoffmann," and her easy coloratura and sparkling stage presence make her ideal in this role." Among her engagements in the 2008-09 season are performances of Mabel in Pirates of Penzance with Lyric Opera of Kansas City and Clorinda in La cenerentola with Florida Grand Opera. In the 2007-08 season, she returned to Minnesota Opera for her first performances of Oscar in Un ballo in maschera, Tri-Cities Opera for Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, and Chautauqua Opera for Despina in Così fan tutte. She also sang Blondchen in Die Entführung aus dem Serail with Anchorage Opera and, on the concert stage, joined the Brooklyn Philharmonic for a concert featuring Zerbinetta’s showstopper aria from Ariadne auf Naxos and the New Choral Society for Handel’s Messiah.
Ms. Riemer enjoys a strong relationship with Minnesota Opera as a former Resident Artist and has joined the company for the title role in Lakme as well as Olympia in Les contes d’Hoffmann and Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro. Her other recent performances include her European debut singing Cunegonde in Candide with the Kammerchor-Steffisburg in Thun, Switzerland. Following her first performances of Olympia in Les contes D’Hoffmann with Des Moines Metro Opera, Opera News exclaimed, “Each unattainable inamorata emerged solidly, particularly the delectable Olympia of Nili Riemer, whose pinpoint coloratura and ditzy wind-up-shtick exploited the role's potential charmingly.” The soprano has also appeared multiple times with Tri-Cities Opera, in leading roles that include Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte, the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor, Marie in La Fille du Régiment, and Monica in The Medium.
As a former member of Chautauqua Opera’s Studio Artist Program, she sang Suor Genevieve in Suor Angelica and Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro. Other roles to the soprano’s credit include Silverpeal and Goldentrill in Mozart’s Impresario at the International Vocal Arts Institute in Tel Aviv, Feu and Rossignol in L’Enfant et les Sortilèges in Boston, and Amor in L’incoronazione di Poppea with the Bay Area Summer Opera Institute.
A versatile concert performer as well, Ms. Riemer has sung Barber’s Prayers of Kierkegaard and Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms with the Binghamton Philharmonic. She joined the Binghamton University Concert Orchestra as a guest artist for Orff’s Carmina Burana and the Tufts University Concert Orchestra for Poulenc’s Gloria. At the Newport Jazz Festival, Ms. Riemer performed Brubeck’s Gates of Justice. She also appeared with the Minnesota Orchestra singing “Der Hölle Rache” from Die Zauberflöte.
Ms. Riemer has received a number of awards and grants from the Gerda Lissner Foundation, Shoshannah Foundation, and Career Bridges. She is also a former winner of the Nebraska district Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, first place winner of the Schubert Club Competition, second place winner of the Altamura-Caruso International Vocal Competition, and third place winner of the Queens Opera Competition. The Israeli-born soprano holds a Master of Music degree from the State University of New York-Binghamton. She is a graduate of the five-year accelerated dual-degree program at New England Conservatory of Music and Tufts University, where she earned a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in International Relations.
